Electric Eden (The Coney Island USA Spring Gala)

ENGLISH: An almost completely naked butt is shaking on eye-level just left of the entrance. Two women are doing acrobatics hanging from the roof. Two mermaids are walking around with a wagon filled with secret packages. Welcome to Electric Eden! One of the greatest things with New York is that you never know where the day will take you. Yesterday that turned out to be Amnesia NYC (609 W. 29th St) in Chelsea, where Coney Island USA were hosting their spring gala. It was as if the carnival had moved into town, bringing all the burlesque dancers, sward-swallowers (my favorite!) and fire-eaters with it. A man forced an electric drill up his nose (electric stuff is apparently the new thing, can’t remember that from when I was a kid), another one ate a lightbulb. A totally unexpected night!
